  1. My friend Danielle used to have a pet chinchilla which usually had the freedom to roam in her apartment.

    Inky (for that was his name) was fascinating to watch; his behavior was rather like that of a wild creature who wasn't afraid of humans and just went about his business.

    The spectacle of his nightly dust bath was especially droll and interesting.

    He would occasionally let you pet him, and he was the softest, fuzziest thing imaginable.

    I sure did like Inky.
